Regrained: New Product Spotlight!
Craft brewing has been a part of San Francisco’s food culture since the mid-1800s and is now as ubiquitous as our city’s iconic sourdough bread. But did you know that every batch of beer that’s brewed results in almost a third of the grain that goes into its production typically being thrown out?
When Dan Kurzock started brewing his own beer in 2010, for the benefit of his fraternity brothers, he didn’t have farm animals to feed the brewers’ spent grain to and didn’t want to go into a landfill. So he started thinking up creative ways to reuse these still quite nutritious grains, like beer bread.
Not content to just upcycle the grain personally, he co-founded Regrained with fellow student Jordan Schwartz in 2013 to use grain waste from small city breweries to make a range of delicious snacks from, essentially, recycled grain.
Today, Regrained boasts having repurposed 659,583 pounds of grain to create their unique, probiotic-rich snack puffs. And now, you can add their Texas BBQ and Salt & Pepper puffs to your next Jupiter order. They’ve even shared their recipe for ReGrained Upcycled Crispy Avocado Tacos. If you try the puffs, be sure to tag us on social and let us know what new recipe ideas you come up with.
